Spontaneous Countryside Walk

Since the weather has been so nice the past few days, Harry and I decided to go on a spontaneous trip up the countryside to the hills. In Folkestone, we are lucky enough to have the coast one side and the countryside on the other, so we have a choice of either going to the beach or climbing/hiking up the hills in the countryside. As we lived in Chatham for the past two years, we desperately missed the countryside and so we decided it would be a nice idea to walk up the hills and make the most of the sun!

As much as I knew it would be best to wear my trusty Vans up the hills, I still wanted to wear these studded sandals (Topshop) because I love them and they are so comfy! Will most likely create an outfit/style post featuring them soon!

However, I did end up changing into my Vans as soon as we got there. Another slight error with my outfit is that I stupidly wore a skirt. I completely misjudged the wind and ended up having to use my denim jacket to hold it down whilst we walked. Only I would think it would be a good idea to wear a skirt when I knew I would be walking/climbing up the hills... haha

The bag Harry is wearing is actually a DJI drone case, we were hoping to fly the drone up the hills but again, we misjudged the strength of the wind.

His 'n' Hers Vans ft. Pale legs

We didn't choose a specific nature path to follow, we decided to follow wherever the path took us. However, there are different paths you can follow that will lead you to specfic places and areas in Kent. For example, the North Downs Way is a National Trail that will eventually lead you to Dover from Folkestone. I think it would be nice to actaully follow one of the routes one day and see where we end up.

Of course, I had to stop and take loads of photos of the flowers! :)

After walking for near on two hours, we couldn't take the heat anymore and we both needed food and drink. We decided to take the back road rather than trek through the hills again and we come across this pretty lane! There were so many bright and colourful flowers that I had to stop and take more photos...I think I'm obsessed.

It was so nice just wandering through the countryside and leaving the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a couple of hours. It was so hot but it was worth it! We're planning to go for a longer walk and maybe follow one of the national trails next time and I will actually dress appropriately and take lots of water and snacks with us!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed it! It's a little different to what I usually post but I'm wanting to expand into the lifestyle more as well as my usual fashion/style posts. Let me know what you think! :)

Have a wonderful day!

The Bouverie Tap

After a full on and stressful couple of weeks, I have finally moved back to my hometown Folkestone and finally starting to relax. Living away has made me realise how much I took for granted before I left for uni. I'm finding myself admiring my surroundings more and wanting to walk everywhere. Even though I have lived here my whole life...it feels like new (does this make sense? haha). Anyway, due to this I am wanting to find new places to visit, especially since a lot has been built around Folkestone town and harbour since I was away, I want to explore more.

The other day I visited a new and upcoming restaurant called The Bouverie Tap with my boyfriend and my brother. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and we were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff. The decor of the restaurant instantly sparked our interest and we found out that all the items displayed were authentic, vintage items that the owner had collected over the years.

The interior of The Bouverie Tap is covered in authentic memorabilia ranging from the 1920s to the 1950s. As well as the items on the walls, all the tables are hand decorated and finished with pages from old, vintage newspapers with some dating back to 1904! It was interesting to read sections of the pages and learn what was happening around the time that they were printed.

The food was honestly amazing! We ordered handmade beef burgers with smoked bacon, cheddar cheese (you could choose stilton) and a brioche bun. Served with homemade double cooked chips and a side of rocket. I couldn't finish the whole burger due to it being so filling! The handmade chips were divine, I could honestly eat a whole plate of them. I don't actually like rocket so I didn't eat it but the other two said it was nice.

Out of all the details, I found the lights interesting as each of the lights were made out of vintage army helmets, so each of the lights are different adding the finishing touch to the overall aesthetic of the restaurant. The lighting is that of a orangey tone, making the atmosphere quite soft and relaxing. Our overall experience was amazing and we can't wait to back there again!

If you're out and about around Folkestone, Kent or if you're planning to visit the seaside town, I would highly recommend visiting The Bouverie Tap, whether it is just for a drink or an early lunch; it is the perfect place to have a break and relax. Make sure you take a look on their Facebook or Instagram pages to see what else they have to offer. (Links below)

Tropical Florals

This is the last post in collaboration with everything5pounds.com. You can find the first post below if you haven't seen them already. :)
First post - Spring is here!

I absolutely love this jumpsuit! Even though the bright colours make me look ridiculously pale...(I definitely need a tan!) Other than that, I couldn't fault it. The relaxed style of the jumpsuit makes it so comfy to wear and the fabric is soft too. I can't wait to wear it out properly in Summer!
It would be perfect for festivals too! Just chuck a denim jacket on, replace the heels with statement sandals and add some layered necklaces with a choker and viola! To be honest, I do think I should have added a choker or necklace as I felt quite bare and as I'm not used to wearing V-necks, it would have helped me not be so conscious.

*Bag update*
In my previous post, I mentioned that the latch on the bag doesn't always stay closed. After using the bag more, I have found that it does stay closed if are not many items inside. All I had in the bag for this shoot was my keys, phone, lipstick and my purse. I did have my camera in it too but it made the bag too heavy and so the latch wouldn't stay closed. It's a handy little bag if you don't want to carry around much and only have the necessities with you so it would be perfect if you were going out to dinner or a day out somewhere.

Flower Print Cropped Jumpsuit *Unfortunately sold out :(
Alternative - Jumpsuits

*Unfortunately, the jumpsuit I'm wearing has sold out already! But I have linked alternative jumpsuits if you want to take a look! There are some really cute ones that would be perfect for spring/summer)

On an odd note, I think my confidence rises when I wear it as I had a big presentation at uni the last week and I hate presentations. I get so nervous, I start to shake, feel sick, my voice breaks every time I give presentations... I just hate them. So I decided to wear this on the day as I thought it help me feel better about the presentation and make it look like I was confident even though I wasn't. Long story short, I come out of that presentation with a huge smile on my face because it went so well! I shocked myself by being very talkative and I apparently sounded confident too! Even my tutors said that were so happy with how I presented the work and they loved the fact that I looked professional and confident with the bright colours of the jumpsuit. Sounds odd I know but yeah... the jumpsuit has helped me become more confident.

That's it for today's post! Hope you enjoyed reading both posts in collaboration with Everyting5pounds.com! Spring is here!

Finally, Spring has arrived and we can start saying goodbye to our Winter wardrobes! Although, I would keep a couple of jackets out for those typical 'British weather days'. As much as I would love to start wearing summer clothes, the weather just isn't on our side just yet. Yesterday was so warm and sunny with clear skies...and today has been the complete opposite. Anyway, today's post is all about Everything5pounds.com! I have been lucky enough to team up with Everything5pounds.com again and bring you another two outfits for under £20 each! The outfits will be spread over two posts, today's one is all about these amazing floral culottes!

For those of you who haven't heard of Everything 5 Pounds, they are an online fashion retailer that sells on trend and good quality clothing, all for £5 each! They also sell, menswear, shoes, accessories, homeware and toys. As well as this, new stock is added daily so you can keep up with the latest trends!

For the first outfit, I chose these floral culottes as I thought they would be perfect for Spring. I fell in love with the cute floral print on the culottes and as you know,  I love anything floral so I had to have them! I thought the colours used in the floral print go together really well. It's a nice way to add some bright colours to the culottes without the colours overtaking the look of them. Since the culottes have flowers printed on them, I wanted to keep the top quite plain but with some detail too. Which is why I chose this sleeveless polka-dot blouse that features a bow at the neck. The blouse is so soft and lightweight so it will be comfortable when the warmer weather comes around. It is a little see-through but as long as you wear a nude bra/top underneath it will be fine as the bow covers the front too.

I chose this cute black bag mainly because to me, it looked similar to CĂ©line Trapeze bags and I have always wanted to own that style of bag. Anyway, the bag is so handy when you don't want to carry a lot with you but it is also big enough to fit a DSLR camera in so it is still quite roomy compared to its size. The lining of the bag is stunning, it is a bright cobalt blue and it really makes the bag stand out. The only downfall with this bag is the latch doesn't always stay shut but that could be due to the items I had in the bag that made it a bit heavy on the latch or even that I hadn't locked the latch down properly. This was the first time I had used the bag so I will keep you updated in the next post!

To finish the outfit, I chose these black suedette shoes with block heels. I wanted something that would be easy to walk in as well as making my legs look longer when wearing these culottes. When I first tried these on, I genuinely felt like Bambi when I practiced walking in them..(I don't wear heels often..). Thankfully, I got used to them and I can kind of walk normally in them without looking like Bambi on ice. This is why I opted for the block heels as they are much easier to keep your balance and walk in.

That's all for today's post! The next outfit will be live tomorrow morning if all goes to plan, if not it will be live on Friday morning. If you haven't already, I really recommend Everything5pounds.com as I think you will be pleasantly surprised at what they have to offer! Since all their products are £5...maybe treat yourself? ;)

Have you ordered from Everything5pounds before? If so, what did you think of their items? Let me know in the comments! :)

Gingham Frills

Happy Sunday!
How are you all?

For the past week I have been helping out on a film production as a costume designer and set photographer and I'm loving it! I've not done anything like this before and its nice to see what goes on behind the scenes and how much work it actually takes to create a film, even a short 15 minute one. You may have seen a few photos on my Instagram about it, I think on one of the photos I captioned that its difficult not to fall asleep between takes/scenes. This is because I'm not part of the filming team, I can't always be in the same room where they're filming which is understandable. The last thing I want is to find that I'm in the background somewhere eating or just playing on my phone haha :) The days were quite full on and we often had 19 hour days but it was all worth it and can't wait to see the finished film!
I have really enjoyed being apart of the film production and it has given me an insight into film which I could potentially combine with fashion design. I have actually created a fashion promotion film before and I really enjoyed creating that so maybe this is something I could go into?
If you want to take a look of the film I created you can view it here on my flickr. It's called LOOK BENEATH THE SKIN and its a t-shirt collection I designed and printed that is meant to show that we are all the same underneath (hence the name). Let me know what you think of it! (Please bare in mind that I created this in 2013!)

Anyone else loving gingham at the moment?!

As soon as I saw this gingham top, I knew I had to have it! It is perfect for the transition into Spring and throughout Spring/Summer too. I love the ruffle and bow details too, it really makes the boxy shape feel more feminine. My favourite detail of the blouse is that there is a slit from the cuff up to the elbow with a bow fastening at the cuff. I've not seen a detail like that before and it really adds to the blouses look.

Since the weather is ever so slightly getting better and warmer, I thought it would be a good time to bring out the camel trench again. Unfortunately for me, I misjudged the weather on the day and it was quite windy which is due to the lovely storm Dorris (you can probably tell by how windswept my hair is! haha!) and so I was rather cold. But on the bright side, I have an outfit for when Spring gets here! I want to invest in some red ballet style shoes or boots so I can add a pop of colour when wearing this top/outfit; so there may be another outfit post with this top soon!

Thank you so much for reading and hope you enjoyed it!
